Parents Defending Education’s Comments on the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights’ Request for Comments on the Federal Government’s Response to Anti-Asian Racism in the United States

On April 24, 2023, Caroline Moore, vice president of Parents Defending Education, submitted comments to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, which had asked for input on the federal government’s response to anti-Asian racism in the United States.

PDE’s comments point to multiple incidents, and to civil rights complaints PDE has filed, involving school practices that exclude Asian students. Examples include Harvard’s admissions process and the overhaul of admissions at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Virginia, after which the share of Asian students admitted dropped sharply. “PDE and its members oppose political indoctrination and discrimination in any form. PDE supports the Department in its effort to investigate, expose, and rectify unlawful and unconstitutional practices and policies that affect our members and their children—and urges the Department to continue to vigorously investigate and rectify unlawful discrimination.”
