On December 13, 2022, a coalition of 27 organizations, including Parents Defending Education (now Defending Education), sent letters to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the Wallace Foundation, the Windward Fund, and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. The letters raise serious concerns about the foundations’ funding of equity-centered initiatives in school districts that are hurting student performance.
The coalition asks the foundations to rethink their grant priorities so they can work together to improve America’s public schools for all children.
