School District of Lodi approves new equity agenda to include “safe spaces”

In a May 10, 2021 board meeting, the following equity slides were presented to the board. They discussed the staff’s culturally responsive training which involved reading the book, So You Want To Talk About Race by Ijeoma Oluo. The agenda includes forming an equity team, “finding an equity framework”, “finding a tool to evaluate” the system, “a tool for equitable decision making”, an equity statement, “doing more professional development on creating those safe spaces as well as implicit bias”, and creating student groups.
