School Administrative Unit 70 has “Furry Crafts Club” for students who identify as furries

Incidents

School Administrative Unit 70 in New Hampshire has a “Furry Crafts Club” for students of “all grades” at Hanover High School. Defending Education submitted a public records request seeking any documents regarding the club in the district’s possession. The superintendent responded and explained that the club was created in February 2025. There were only two documents because of the club being new.

The first document is a flyer for the club stating: “Join to make your animal characters come to life! New to the furry fandom? That’s okay. Anyone is welcome!” The form for the club states the following purpose:

The purpose of Furry Crafts Club is to create a safe environment for students to create artwork and costumes based on anthropomorphized animal characters created by students.

The club is described as “funded.”
