Newton Public Schools principal uses Hamas terrorist attack against Israel to promote “microaggressions”

Incidents

Parents Defending Education submitted a public records request to Newton Public Schools seeking emails from board members and the superintendent as well as district statements regarding the Hamas terrorist attack against Israel on October 7th. In a statement on October 9, the Brown Middle School principal sent an email to her staff that did not mention the terrorist attack. She simply called the atrocity an incident where “violence erupted in Israel and the Gaza Strip.” The principal then used her statement to school staff to condemn “racism” and “microaggressions.” She stated:

It is also critical that we are vigilant about responding to possible acts of anti-Semitism and anti-Muslim microaggressions that could spill into our school community. As a faculty, we prioritize a school that is a safe and inclusive space for all, and we will address any potential acts of racism and microaggressions.
