Montgomery County Public Schools has $1.2 million budget for equity department

Defending Education submitted a public records request to Montgomery County Public Schools seeking the school district’s equity office budget and the salaries of the equity office’s employees. The records that the school district provided to Defending Education revealed that the school district’s Department of Equity Initiatives has a budget of $1,236,184 for Fiscal Year 2025. Of this budget, $777,842 is for position salaries and wages.

The equity department’s director earns a salary of $181,987. Eight district employees are listed as working for this department. The lowest earning is $87,006.96. Six of the eight employees have earnings over $100,000. The lowest earning for an instructional specialist is $137,817.
