San Rafael City Schools appears to be currently running race and sex-based programming focusing on Black female students. The district has paid $26,050 in Title IV funds to pay for the programming.

On May 13, 2024, the district approved a Memorandum of Understanding for a “Black Girls Affinity Group” for the 2024-2025 school year. The district used $17,200 of Title IV funds to pay for the programming.

According to the board abstract, it states that the program is intended to create a “supportive and inclusive community setting as a means to address the racism and unique challenges Black girls face” and “has provided a safe and empowering place for young Black girls to discuss, understand, and combat racism while fostering a sense of belonging.”

Listed project objectives include confronting “bigotry,” standing up “against racial discrimination,” and celebrating “diversity.”

In 2023, the board had also approved a Memorandum Of Understanding with the organization for the purpose of running a “Black Girls Affinity Group.” The district used $8,850 in Title IV funds to pay for the program.
