Assistant Principal at Mount Pleasant High School sends email to faculty/staff listserv soliciting donations to pay Coyote on behalf of student

On Thursday, January 26, 2023 an Assistant Principal at Mount Pleasant Schools in Rhode Island, sent an email to a school listserve requesting donations on behalf of a student who “came to America with ‘Coyote’.” The email explains that a different staff member will collect money in person on Friday.

The assistant principal describes herself in her Twitter profile as a “black educator”, “queer”, “activist”, who will “dismantle school to prison pipeline”

On January 27, 2023 the school principal, sent the below email calling the donation solicitation “not appropriate”.

The Providence School District has confirmed that the email is real and that they have opened an investigation.
