Agency: Department of Education

The Department of Education proposes changing its rules under the Innovative Assessment Demonstration Authority (IADA), a program that lets states try out new state testing systems. The goal is to help states pilot and build better tests that more accurately measure student learning and improve teaching. The proposed changes draw on an April 2023 report by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) on the progress, and the problems, of the states that took part in IADA.
