Parents Defending Education Goes to College As Defending Education

Press Releases

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Washington, D.C., April 9, 2025 – Take yourself back to the Spring of 2021. We were in the midst of Covid and school shutdowns, we experienced the 2020 BLM summer of riots, Ibram X. Kendi and Nikole Hannah-Jones were widely promoted as the saviors of our society and critical race theory, white privilege and microaggressions were being pushed on all Americans regardless of age, in every corner of our country. And because every child in America was forced into Zoom school, parents got a front row seat to what their children were being taught in school. Many of them—across the political spectrum—did not like it.

Parents Defending Education (PDE) launched in April 2021. In the four years since, we have built a coalition of over 190,000 advocates, including over 350 advocacy organizations. We have uncovered truths about what’s happening in schools all over the country by submitting over 1,600 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests in almost every state in the country at the district, state and federal level. We have published over 1,400 examples of alarming school policies, practices and actions with primary source material such as emails, assignments, syllabi, curriculum and policy documents available for the public to see for themselves.

PDE has published over 100 one-of-a-kind resources for parents and advocates. PDE has filed 41+ Office for Civil Rights complaints, 6+ Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaints, 5 lawsuits on constitutional violations such as the First Amendment and Title IX, had over 102 Congressional engagements, 5 Congressional testimonies, 33 original informational podcasts and over 4,000+ media hits (tv, radio and podcasts) discussing the state of K-12 education.

PDE is now growing up with our families! We are expanding into higher education and changing our name to Defending Education. We will now focus on both K-12 and higher education in our efforts to restore political neutrality, diversity of viewpoint and the free exchange of ideas to American education. As we have since our inception in 2021, we will continue to:

  • expose what’s going on using primary source documents
  • provide helpful resources and explainers for parents, students and other stakeholders
  • publish investigative reports
  • File civil rights complaints
  • engage in litigation

Parents are growing up —and we’re growing up with them. Defending Education is eager and honored to support students, families, advocates and the public at large as they take the next step in their formal education or just want to better understand the higher education landscape in the United States. People need and deserve to know what is actually happening on campus in America and we are committed to helping make that happen
