Coalition of 25 Organizations Send Letter to Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona Expressing Concerns with Forthcoming Rewrite of Title IX Regarding Transgender Participation in Student Sports

On April 19, 2023, a coalition of 25 organizations representing 397,494 members, including Parents Defending Education, sent a letter to Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona raising serious concerns about the U.S. Department of Education’s proposed Title IX rule on sports participation by students who identify as transgender. The coalition opposes the Department’s effort to force schools to let athletes play on the team that matches their self-declared gender identity. These changes would harm the mental and physical well-being of female athletes, undermine parents’ rights and states’ authority, and strain the budgets of federal, state, and local education agencies across the country.
