On October 31, 2024, the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL) filed an amicus (“friend of the court”) brief urging the U.S. Supreme Court to hear Speech First’s challenge to Indiana University’s (IU) bias incidents policy. WILL argued that even though bias response teams usually cannot issue formal discipline, they still chill speech, because students know they may be reported to university leaders as bigots for speaking up on controversial issues.
