On October 30, 2024, Southeastern Legal Foundation (SLF) and Young America’s Foundation (YAF) filed an amicus (“friend of the court”) brief urging the U.S. Supreme Court to hear Speech First’s challenge to Indiana University’s (IU) bias incidents policy. The groups argued that being labeled “biased” or “hateful” by a university is itself a punishment that chills speech, especially for young students entering a job market where employers are wary of that label.
