On January 10, 2023, Speech First, a national membership group of students, alumni, and others that defends free speech on campus, announced its lawsuit against Oklahoma State University (OSU) in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma. The press release explains that the suit challenges OSU’s bias reporting system, a harassment policy so vague it can reach a wide swath of protected speech, and a computer policy that forbids students from using their student email accounts for political speech.
