On May 30, 2023, Young America’s Foundation (YAF) and the Manhattan Institute (MI) filed an amicus (“friend of the court”) brief in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit urging the court to reverse the dismissal of Speech First’s lawsuit against Oklahoma State University (OSU). The groups argued that college students today fear voicing their views, that students with minority views on issues like abortion and gender identity are especially likely to censor themselves, and that policies like OSU’s prohibit exactly that kind of speech.
