On January 18, 2022, Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) filed an amicus (“friend of the court”) brief in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit supporting Speech First’s appeal in its challenge to Virginia Tech’s speech policies. ADF argued that Virginia Tech uses overly broad anti-bias policies to suppress speech it considers wrong, but that the First Amendment protects even offensive views and makes no exception for “bias.”
