On April 13, 2023, Speech First, a national membership group of students, alumni, and others that defends free speech on campus, announced its lawsuit against Texas State University (TXST) in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas. The press release explains that the suit challenges TXST’s overbroad discriminatory-harassment policy and a computer policy that forbids students from using their student email accounts for political speech.
