On February 22, 2021, Speech First, a national membership group of students, alumni, and others that defends free speech on campus, asked the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida to block three the University of Central Florida (UCF) policies while its lawsuit goes on. Speech First challenged UCF’s discriminatory-harassment policy, its policy against sending “harassing or hate messages,” and its bias-related incidents policy, arguing that they violate students’ constitutional rights.
