NEA President Becky Pringle joins Sunrise Movement’s “Roadmap to Political Revolution” event series

Incidents

Sunrise Movement, which has helped mobilize students in Minnesota for school walkouts, is hosting a “Roadmap to Political Revolution” virtual event multiple times over the next few weeks, featuring a mass call and phone bank for progressive political candidates.

The event features Becky Pringle, the president of the National Education Association, the largest teachers’ union in the country. Other event leaders include Aru Shiney-Ajay, the Sunrise Movement executive director; Maya Handa, campaign manager and political advisor for Zohran Mamdani; Kat Abughazaleh, candidate for Congress, Illinois’s 9th District (IL-09); and Ro Khanna, U.S. representative for California’s 17th District (CA-17).

The event description reads: “It’s time we dream — and organize — at the scale that Trump and billionaires are creating nightmares. 2026 is the year we break it all open.”

  • Disrupt: We need mass disruption to stop authoritarian consolidation.
  • Clear House: We can resoundingly defeat the billionaire establishment of both parties in this year’s elections.
  • Un-rig: Rebel against the billionaire-run two party system and for a real democracy that delivers for working people.

“Join young people, organizers, and an exciting line up of guest speakers to join in getting BIG and NON-COOPERATIVE in 2026 – especially on May 1st! Plus, we’ll get started clearing house by calling voters. The revolution begins now. Are you in?”
