Findley Elementary School hosted their annual “International Extravaganza” night on April 10, 2025. Although all students’ displays are personally vetted and approved ahead of time by school staff, the table on Palestine included handouts with images of body bags and accusations of “genocide” by Israel, large signs featuring maps and statistics that appear to be from Hamas and Al Jazeera regarding death tolls, and photographs of individuals allegedly killed by Israelis. When concerns were raised by attendees, school administration and staff defended the display.
This incident seems to illustrate a pattern. Last year, concerns were raised about the Palestinian booth at the same event and, according to our reporting, assurances were given by the Beaverton School District (BSD) that such displays would not recur.

For additional context, the local union, Portland Association for Teachers, who, in conjunction with Oregon Educators for Portland, created and disseminated a 32-page booklet titled: Know Your Rights: Teaching and Organizing for Palestine within Portland Public Schools
