Incidents

In an August 4, 2020, board workshop of the Culver City Unified School District, the “Equity Strategic Planning Committee” presented an “Equity, Social Justice, & Inclusion Plan: A Living Document 2020-2023.” The plan was a “call to act” and featured “learning workshops on the concept of Critical Race Theory.” It also included “professional development on the concept of unconscious and implicit bias in the classroom.”

The document stated: “You are all true ‘Equity Warriors’ and promoted the Southern Poverty Law Center’s project Learning for Justice, formerly known as Teaching Tolerance.

Here is an excerpt from the Learning for Justice about page:

In our work with educators, schools, students and communities, Learning for Justice seeks to uphold the mission of the Southern Poverty Law Center: to be a catalyst for racial justice in the South and beyond, working in partnership with communities to dismantle white supremacy, strengthen intersectional movements and advance the human rights of all people.
