On December 29, 2022, Parents Defending Education (PDE) filed a reply brief in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit in its lawsuit against Iowa’s Linn-Mar Community School District. PDE asked the court to reverse the lower court and grant a preliminary injunction, a court order that would stop the district from enforcing its policy while the case goes on.
PDE challenged a policy that bars school officials from telling parents the truth about what the school is doing with regard to a student’s gender expression. The policy lets officials make major decisions about a child, including changing the child’s name and pronouns, without ever telling the child’s parents.
