University of Washington Student Group Stripped of Status Promotes Violence, Hamas Content at Campus Table
Incidents
A de-certified student organization at the University of Washington, Super UW, which stands for Students United for Palestinian Equality and Return, was tabling and selling merchandise on campus in April, where they actively promoted violence and displayed material from the Hamas Media Office.

T-shirts sold included what appears to be an image of Hamas leader and October 7 mastermind, Yahya Sinwar, as well as photographs from the terrorist attack and the statement “A flood is coming,” in reference to October 7.

Photos from the event show a pamphlet titled “Our Narrative: Operation Al-Asqa Flood,” produced by the Hamas Media Office, glorifying the October 7 terrorist attack.

The pamphlet stated that on October 7, the terrorists only “targeted the Israeli military sites” and avoided “harm to civilians, especially children, women and elderly people” as it “is a religious and moral commitment by all the Al-Qassam Brigades’ fighters.”
“We reiterate that the Palestinian resistance was fully disciplined and committed to the Islamic values during the operation and that the Palestinian fighters only targeted the occupation solders and those we carried weapons against our people,” the pamphlet read. “In the meantime, the Palestinian fighters were keen to avoid harming civilians despite the fact that the resistance does not possess precise weapons. In addition, if there was any case of targeting civilians; it happened accidentally and in the course of the confrontation with the occupation forces.”

One document included a call to action: “Today, we call on you, from the midst of massacres and siege, to a new revolutionary phase of comprehensive escalation, and to raise the pace and ceiling of your struggle and your honorable stances … We call on you to besiege the White House in Washington, and to surround the palaces, headquarters and ministries of Western colonial governments and Zionist embassies and the buildings and offices of the corporations that finance the Zionist entity and arm its criminal army with all kinds of bombs and means of death and destruction.”

Another document stated: “Resistance is justified when people are occupied. Palestine has suppered from colonization, dispossession, displacement, murder and occupation for more than 75 years. As Malcom X said, the oppressed have the legitimate right to fight back ‘by any means necessary!'”
“Support Palestinian resistance by any means necessary, with no moralistic qualms” and “Organize workers here in the US to use their economic power against Zionism and US imperialism” the document, which appears to be authored by the Seattle Revolutionary Socialists, continues.
When a faculty member flagged the booth activities to the campus Civil Rights Office, a representative responded and said: “I’d be happy to discuss what happened and explore options with you. I also want to check in on how you’re doing and see if there’s any support that might be helpful. If you’d like to connect, you can schedule a time to talk with me using my Calendly link. If now isn’t the right time, you’re always welcome to reach out in the future.”

The same faculty member reportedly called the University of Washington’s violence-prevention and response Program and the university police.
The Civil Rights Office followed up, clarifying that Super UW is not affiliated with the university and that the office was coordinating with campus police to ensure safety and company with time, place and manner policy, which prohibited unauthorized merchandise sales.

Sally J. Clark, the Vice President of Campus Community Safety at the university informed staff members that officers visited the booth and asked the group if they were engaged in selling anything to which they responded “no.” Clark noted that “there was no direct evidence of them selling things from the table” so “that was the end of the engagement.”
She continued: “The table had a QR code. I imagine the sales happened that way with shirts delivered either before UWPD arrived or arranged to be delivered later.”

The university’s Use of Universities Facilities Committee sent a note to to Super UW on April 12, informing the group that their tabling event planned for April 14 was a violation of the Washington Administrative Code “which prohibits the use of campus facilities for private or commercial purposes such as sales, advertising, or promotional activities. Violations can result in citations for individuals and in referral to Community Standards and Student Conduct for students. Please refrain from commercial activity on campus.”
“Further, please be aware that the University has received several complaints about your merchandise sales on April 9th.The images and language used in your materials and merchandise appear to be intended to create a climate of harassment and intimidation for members of our community, and individuals have reported feeling unsafe. This is unacceptable and potentially actionable under the Code of Student Conduct or other regulations. Should you continue these behaviors the University will take appropriate action,” the statement said.

On May 5, 2025, protestors from the same group, Super UW. caused an estimated $1 million in damage during a building takeover at the Boeing funded Interdisciplinary Engineering Building, demanding the group cut ties with Boeing over its military contracts with Israel. Protestors reportedly damaged a building, destroyed equipment inside the building and set fire to dumpsters outside.
Thirty-four individuals were arrested and subject to criminal prosecution and University disciplinary processes. Of those student, 21 students were arrested and suspended or banned from all UW campuses
Thirty-four individuals were arrested and face both criminal prosecution and University disciplinary action, according to the university statement. Of those, 21 students were arrested and either suspended or banned from all UW campuses.
The federal Task Force to Combat Anti-Semitism sent a notice to the university in May 2025 that it was initiating a review of federal grants and contracts.
At a February on-campus pro-Palestinian rally, some students carried signs praising Hamas’s military wing, the al-Qassam Brigades, and paying tribute to “all our martyrs.”
