On December 10, 2024, the San Francisco Unified School District published a page online titled “How to Prepare and Support LGBTQ+ Youth for Breaks.” The district attacks “unaffirming community members” on the page which appears to also be a reference to family members. The district also provides two resources titled “Self Care for Kids” and “SFUSD’s Out of School Survival Guide.”
The “Out of School Survival Guide” notably promotes several LGBTQ organizations that target children including the Trevor Project, QChat Space, and the Queer Trans Project. The district appears to encourage some students to run away from home with a “National Runaway Hotline.”
The district also promotes the “Dimensions Clinic for Trans and Queer Youth” in the document. This clinic provides “gender affirming care (including hormone therapy, and support with navigating gender affirming procedures and transition).”
