Rockingham County Schools has gender support plan that asks vague questions regarding family and home

Incidents

Parents Defending Education submitted a public records request to Rockingham County Schools seeking any guidance the district has regarding transgender issues. The district provided PDE with a document titled “Student Support Plan.” The document appears to be a gender support plan for students who want to transition to another gender. The plan asks for the “preferred first name request” and “what name is used at home” for students. The plan also asks for “affirming family members.” The next question then asks: “If none, who are the individuals who are assisting the student in this transition?”

The plan additionally asks for the “pronouns preferred by the student.” One question regarding pronouns asks: “Are these the same pronouns as used at home?”
