Parents Defending Education submitted a public records request to Regional School Unit 68 seeking any guidance on transgender issues. The district provided PDE with a document labeled as a “Gender Support Plan” that claims to “create a shared understanding about the ways in which the student’s authentic gender will be accounted for and supported at school.” The gender support plan appears to be based on a template created by Gender Spectrum. The organization Gender Spectrum is known for targeting children with LGBTQ issues.
The plan asks for a student’s “preferred name” and “gender identity.” The plan also notably asks: “Are guardian(s) of this student aware and supportive of their child’s gender status?” The next question then asks: “If not, what considerations must be accounted for in implementing this plan?”
