On May 22, 2024, Democratic Wisconsin State Rep. Melissa Ratcliff said that she “joined LGBTQIA+ advocates at Northside Elementary in Sun Prairie for Pride Reading Day.” The event appeared to include young elementary students. Northside Elementary School is part of the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District. The state representative’s Facebook post included rainbow images with transgender symbolism in the images at the elementary school.

In one image in her post, the “progress” pride rainbow flag can be seen flying above the elementary school. The flag notably has transgender symbolism.
