An 8th grade teacher in the Groton-Dunstable Regional Middle School in Massachusetts administered a survey on the first day of school that asked students what name and pronouns they wanted to be called in class and whether or not they wanted the teacher to use a different name when communicating with their parents/guardians. The teacher promised that the answers to the survey questions would not be seen by anyone but her.
