Marion City School District Pays $55,000 for Equity Audit

Marion City School District has agreed to pay Mosaic Education Network, LLC $55,000 to perform an equity audit of the district.
Although some board members expressed concerns that this money would be better spent by investing in current equity and inclusion programs in the district, the board of education voted to approve the contract at its June 20, 2022 meeting.
The audit will consist of an analysis of district policies, student and staff surveys and focus group discussions. At the July 18, 2022 board meeting, one board member said that for teachers, “it is part of your job duty” to participate in the audit.
According to the district’s Diversity and Equity Supervisor, the audit will take a particular look at student learning environment and student discipline.
