In conversation about boys competing in girls sports, video school board member says the district’s “philosophy is not about competition and who’s winning”

Incidents

During a meeting of the Central Bucks School Board on November 16, 2022, the topic of Title IX and biologically male students playing on on girls’ sports teams came up. After Greg Brown, a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine testified about the specific advantages that males retain even after taking cross-sex hormones, a board member said this:

“Our philosophy is not about competition and who’s winning. It doesn’t seem to be the purpose of athletics at CBSD.” Another board member wonders about the timing of the conversation and the relevance of the topic—she seems to minimize the issue and suggests that politics is driving the focus on it.
