Exeter-West Greenwich administrator tells school staff to keep child’s name/pronoun change from parents

On January 31, 2024, an administrator at Exeter-West Greenwich Junior High sent an email to all school staff to alert them of a student’s request to go by a different name and he/him pronouns at school. The email also states that the student has met with ‘student support services’ and completed a ‘Student Affirmation Plan.’ It appears that the student’s parents are unaware of the plan because the email states that the student would prefer that the new name be “used in class and with peers but not with parents.”
