DeForest Area School District directs families to University of Wisconsin Hospital to provide puberty blockers and hormone therapy to children

The DeForest Area School District has a website with pages dedicated to promoting LGBTQ issues to students and families. The page for families notably includes links to numerous LGBTQ organizations that specifically target youth, including Gender Spectrum, Trevor Project, Trans Lifeline, and Q Chat Space. One resource on the school district’s website is titled “Pediatric & Transgender Health (PATH) Clinic.”

This resource links to a page promoting gender transitions for minors from the University of Wisconsin Hospital (UW Health). The hospital’s page is titled “Supporting transgender, nonbinary, gender questioning and gender diverse youth.” UW Health explains “that this is a hard time for many of our LBGTQ+ patients and families.” Services include “observation, advocacy, and guidance to puberty suppression and gender-affirming hormone therapy.” The hospital explains that personalized support and treatments include “gender-affirming hormone therapy,” “hormone/puberty suppression,” “mental health counseling,” and “support services for kids and families.”
