D.C. Area Educators for Social Justice is promoting “Black Lives Matter at School Curriculum Fair,” despite BLM at School appearing to support Hamas

On January 4, 2024, D.C. Area Educators for Social Justice sent out an email promoting a “Black Lives Matter at School Curriculum Fair.” The curriculum fair will take place in a Zoom meeting on January 20, 2024. The organization stated in the email: “The event will feature a keynote speaker and workshops set to uplift the national demands based in the Black Lives Matter guiding principles that focus on improving the school experience for Black students.”

One session for the fair is titled “Black Women’s History in Five Minutes or Less: Celebrating Hidden Stories You May Not Know.” Topics for this session include “queer affirming” and “trans affirming.” Another session is titled “From Inspiration to Action: Making a Plan for Monday.” A topic for this session is “restorative justice.” Every speaker for the fair appears to be a left-leaning political activist with expertise on issues such as “anti-racist professional development” and “reproductive justice,” which is a term used to describe activism in favor of abortion. The speaker with a focus on “reproductive justice” is also a member of the organization “Black Lives Matter at School.”

Black Lives Matter at School recently appeared to show support for the terrorist group Hamas. On October 17, 2023, Black Lives Matter at School published a statement accusing Israel of “settler colonialism, land dispossession, occupation, blockade, apartheid, and attempted genocide of millions of Palestinians.” The organization said the curricula taught to students “must include Palestinian existence, resistance, culture, global contributions, and the ongoing struggle to realize a free Palestine.” This was only days after Hamas attacked Israel.

D.C. Area Educators for Social Justice will be working to organize the “seventh annual D.C. Area Black Lives Matter at School Week of Action” on February 5-9, 2024. This is despite Black Lives Matter at School appearing to show support for a terrorist group.
