Anchorage School District has book accessible to students that teaches them how to perform oral sex

Parents Defending Education received a report that the sexually graphic book This Book Is Gay is available in elementary, middle, and high schools in the Anchorage School District. On October 18, 2022, the news outlet Must Read Alaska reported that the book “is available in at least three school libraries in the Anchorage School District — an elementary, middle, and high school.” Must Read Alaska also shared a page from the book that explained “two men can pleasure each other in a variety of ways.”

The page from the book states:

Perhaps the most important skill you will master as a gay or bi man is the timeless classic, the hand job. The good news is, you can practice on yourself. The bad news is, each guy has become very used to his own way of getting himself off.” The page then teaches readers how to have oral sex. The page states: “Oral sex is popping another dude’s peen in your mouth or, indeed, popping yours in his. There is only one hard and fast rule when it comes to blowies – WATCH THE TEETH. Lips and tongue, yes; teeth, NO.

Parents Defending Education verified that the book is in the district’s libraries. Two versions of the book dated 2015 and 2021 are listed in the district’s online library database. As of November 9, 2022, both books are checked out. The 2015 version has been checked out 32 times. The 2021 version has been checked out 5 times. The description of the 2015 version in the library states:
