3rd Graders in Milton taught lesson in library class about Harvey Milk and the importance of the letters LGBTQ+

Incidents

In April of 2022 the school librarian at Collicot Elementary School read a book to a 3rd grade class about Harvey Milk and the history of the rainbow flag. A directive was then given to the 8- and 9-year-olds to remember the letters “LGBTQ.”

School officials contend that the lesson fell under the appropriate state standards for history and social sciences and that the librarian was “highly qualified to host a variety of age appropriate conversations.”

These slides below were also shown to the 3rd graders during the library class.
