Who is Dale Allender?
On his website,  Dale Allender, an associate professor of language and literacy in the Department of Teaching Credentials at California State University-Sacramento, says he teaches courses in “Academic Literacy,” “Ethnic Studies” and “Racial Social Justice Education.”

Allender says he has also been a “long-time consultant” for the National Urban Alliance partnership with school districts in the suburbs of Minneapolis, participating in a “voluntary desegregation order,” and in Buffalo, New York.

In the summer 2020, he recorded a video while participating in a five-day Summer Institute with the National Urban Alliance, about his work helping schools that are “teaching from a social justice paradigm,” as the narrator put it, “Issues of justice and equity through their curriculum.”

In an interview posted on YouTube in October 2020, Allender spoke about a “neo-genocide” happening against black people.

What services does Dale Allender offer?
As co-chair of the Ethnic Studies Teaching Credentials Consortium, Allender says he facilitates and provides professional development in “Ethnic Studies” and “Racial Social Justice” for teachers in the Sacramento City Unified School District, San Juan Unified School District, and Roseville Joint Secondary School District in Northern California.

NEW YORK

Buffalo Public Schools

According to his resume, Allender said he delivered a workshop on “Culturally Relevant Teaching” at PS 97 Harvey Austen School in Buffalo, New York, for Buffalo Public Schools and the National Urban Alliance from Dec. 14, 2015, through Dec. 16, 2014, and then again the next year from Jan. 6 through Jan. 7, 2016. He also said he completed several other workshops for Buffalo Public Schools.

CALIFORNIA

Roseville Joint Unified High School

According to his resume, Allender delivered a community presentation, “Taboo Talk: The N Word in [sic] and Out of the Classroom,” on Feb. 29, 2016, at Oakmont High School in Roseville Joint Unified High School, in Roseville, California. The same day, he said he delivered another presentation at the high school, titled, “Epigenetics and Schooling.”

Sacramento City Unified School District

According to his resume, Allender delivered a workshop, “Capitol City Civics and the Black Panther Party,” for the Ethnic Studies Pilot Teacher Professional Development program at Sacramento City Unified School District on May 27, 2016.

San Juan Unified School District

According to his resume, Allender led a “workshop for San Juan Unified School District Social Justice Institute Part 1,” conducting “Social Justice Teaching,” in Carmichael, California, from June 8 through June 10, 2016.

San Francisco Unified School District

According to his resume, Allender led a workshop, “Keeping race and racism in mind during policy deliberation,” for the San Francisco Youth Commission and the San Francisco Unified School District Youth Advisory Council orientation in the fall of 2012. San Francisco Unified School District said it didn’t have any records of contracts with Allender.

MINNESOTA

Minneapolis Public Schools

According to this resume, Allender led a workshop, “Interrupting and Interrogating Systems, Structures and Practices,” for Minneapolis Public Schools and the National Urban Alliance at the Minneapolis Public Schools Racial Equity Institute from June 22 through June 23, 2015.

The next month, he said, he led a program, “Black Male Educators Workshop Strand,” for Minneapolis Public Schools at the National Urban Alliance Summer Academy from July 7, 2015, through July 8, 2015.

Osseo Public Schools

According to his resume, Allender said he led a workshop, “Hip Hop Education,” from June 14, 2016, through June 16, 2016, for Osseo Summer Institute for Culturally Responsive Teaching and National Urban Alliance at Osseo Public Schools, headquartered in Osseo, Minnesota.

Roseville Area Schools

According to his resume, Allender said that he led “equity and achievement coaching” at Roseville Area Middle School, headquartered in Roseville, Minnesota, during the 2016-2017 school year.
