The School District of Janesville has a page online simply labeled as “Resources” that provides numerous LGBTQ resources for students and families. This page notably lists “Transgender Youth Resource Network (TYRN) of Wisconsin” as a resource. The description of this resource states:
The Pediatric and Adolescent Transgender Health (PATH) Clinic in Madison, Wisconsin provides education about medical care options for gender-variant children and adolescents. The PATH Clinic and child advocacy services at American Family Children’s Hospital have partnered with GSAFE to develop the Transgender Youth Resource Network (TYRN) of Wisconsin.
The district’s resource links to a page promoting medicalized gender transitions for minors from the University of Wisconsin Hospital (UW Health). The hospital’s page is titled “Supporting transgender, nonbinary, gender questioning and gender diverse youth.” UW Health explains “that this is a hard time for many of our LBGTQ+ patients and families.” Services include “observation, advocacy, and guidance to puberty suppression and gender-affirming hormone therapy.” The hospital explains that personalized support and treatments include “gender-affirming hormone therapy,” “hormone/puberty suppression,” “mental health counseling,” and “support services for kids and families.”
