Students across Ardsley Union Free School District recently received back-to-school surveys that included questions about preferred names and pronouns and whether teachers/staff “can” use those names and pronouns when communicating with parents. Three surveys were sent to Parents Defending Education from two different 10th Grade English Classes and a 5th Grade Science Class. The pronoun questions were mandatory for all students and could not be left blank.
The two 10th-grade surveys were only visible to students while the 5th-grade survey was available in Google Classroom for parents to see as well:
