Press Releases

CAMERA led a coalition letter to the National Parent Teacher Assocation (PTA) writing to express concern about the the National PTA Multicultural Reference Guide’s inclusion of hyperlinked texts taking users to the American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) website and the “Middle East and North Africa” section of the Amnesty International website.

The office of Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares has launched an investigation into AMP for
“fundraising without proper registration and for potentially violating Virginia’s charitable solicitation laws.” AMP National Board Chairman, Dr. Hatem Bazian, has tweeted antisemitic messages and retweeted antisemitic memes. AMP Executive Director, Dr. Osama Abuirshaid, has applauded the internationally recognized terrorist organization, Hamas, responsible for the rocketing, rape, torture, massacre, and abduction of Israeli civilians on October 7, 2023 in what was the worst attack on Jews in a single day since the Holocaust. AMP Director of Outreach & Grassroots Organizing, Taher Herzallah, has praised Israeli casualties resulting from Hamas terrorist attacks. AMP is committed to the destruction of Israel.

Amnesty International has made numerous distortions and inaccurate statements about the State of Israel[…]The anti-Israel bias of Amnesty International was observed by members of its own top ranks as early as the 1970s. Amnesty International’s reports have been condemned by various Jewish and other nongovernmental organizations. These reports have included false statements that Amnesty International has refused to defend or correct after having been alerted to the falsity of such statements. Amnesty International leaders have also served on panels at events at which antisemites have participated.
