Walker School urges parents to address ‘systemic oppression’

Incidents

In June 2020, The Walker School Head Jack Hall sent parents an email with the subject line “GOOD PEOPLE MUST NOT BE SILENT,” discussing “systemic oppression” – in direct contradiction of one of the school’s stated values, “We believe in the infinite worth and dignity of the individual.”

Beginning in August 2020, Hall shared with families a three-part “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” plan that included “listening sessions” with “students of color.”

In the Walker School’s 2018 Self-Study report, it acknowledges that the school hired Dr. Derrick Gay, a diversity consultant, between 2015-2017; the final report is not available on the school’s website.
