St. Paul Schools seek to “interrupt the harmful narratives and stereotypes” that surround Thanksgiving

Incidents

St. Paul Public Schools has an initiative called “Rethinking Thanksgiving” which attempts to “De-colonize Thanksgiving” and recommends several resources to help “students understand the importance of gratitude, while interrupting the harmful narratives and stereotypes that often surround this holiday.”

One of the resources is a toolkit developed by The Indigenous Solidarity Group of Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ), which purports to help “white folks to discuss settler privilege and other forms of white supremacy.”
