In February 2019, the New York City Department of Education sponsored a workshop, “How to Talk to Your Child About Race,” which included 30 District #3 parents. The event “outlined a racial-advantage hierarchy, with African Americans at the bottom and whites at the top.” The presenters told the room that Asians are in “proximity to white privilege,” a parent with an adopted Asian child recalled, offended by the statement.
