PDE filed a public records request to determine how much Montgomery County Public Schools spent preparing for board of education chairman Karla Silvestre to testify before the House Committee on Education and the Workforce on May 8, 2024 on the issue of pervasive antisemitism in K-12 schools.

Invoices provided to PDE indicate that $13,659 was billed by Venable LLP in March, $86,117.50 in April, and $57,210.70 in May, costing the district $156,987.20 for 56 days of work
