Montgomery Blair High School, part of Montgomery Country Public Schools in Silver Spring, Maryland, had a number of events for BLM at School’s Week of Action on Feb. 6-10, 2023.

One event called “From Student to Activist” took place on Feb. 7.

This event, and all of Montgomery Blair High School’s BLM Week of Action activities, were promoted on Twitter by DC Area Educators for Social Justice, a group who describes itself as, “a community of mutual support for educators to collaborate on curriculum, professional learning, and activism.”

The DC Area Educators for Justice website features BLM’s 13 Guiding Principles, which include being “Trans Affirming,” and “committed to disrupting the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure.”

Their “Resources” include the Zinn Education Project and Anti-Bias Education Resources.

According to an Oct. 24, 2022 press release from the Maryland Department of Education, “Maryland student scores followed a national declining trend on the 2022 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), continuing a downward trajectory that began in 2013 and worsened during the pandemic.”
