Loudoun County Superintendent asks community to “engage in the disruption…of ‘white supremacy'”

Incidents

On Aug. 19, 2019 the Loudoun County Public Schools Superintendent published “A Superintendent’s Equity Statement” that “calls for students, staff, families, and other members of our community to engage in the disruption and dismantling of ‘white supremacy’ (and) ‘systemic racism.'” On June 23, 2020, the district presented an “action plan to combat systemic racism.”

Fast forward to March 2021: Loudoun County parents who expressed concerns about critical race theory found themselves the targets of a campaign by a Facebook group, “Anti-Racist Parents of Loudoun County,” which posted a plan to gather information about them, add their names to a list and smear them publicly. They also urged their members “to create fake online profiles and join these groups to collect and communicate information, hackers who can either shut down their websites or redirect them to pro-CRT/anti-racist informational webpages.” The Loudoun County sheriff’s criminal investigations division is currently reviewing comments and requests made by the Facebook group.
