Lincoln Public Schools train teachers to “develop a more positive white identity”

Incidents

In August 2020, Lincoln Public School District hired a Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. On April 9, 2021 the Board of Education held a meeting in which they discussed their equity goals.

And so while I wouldn’t say that we have all systems in place related to the equity work, that’s where we are headed. And so this particular year, we spent time just preparing staff responding to some of all of what has been happening in our country, the the pandemic, and the social unrest. And so that that was a big part of this year. But we also have spent time just coming together as some departments to talk about that very thing is how is it that we center equity. And so we’ve had conversations with our professional development, what are ways that we are centering equity related to our professional development.

In March, the staff training module focused on “becoming an antiracist.” Below are a few slides from that presentation.
