Lafayette School District outlines plan to develop “racially-conscious white students” in their middle schools

Over the past year, the Lafayette School District in Lafayette, California has worked to create “racially consciousness” white students in the district’s schools. Their 2020 Inclusion and Diversity memo included such goals as follows:

In a resource guide titled, “For White Teachers and Parents Developing Racial Consciousness and Moving into Action (& the POC Working or In a Relationship With Them), the district links to books/articles on antiracism and white supremacy to develop racial consciousness in the community:

Finally, in a forum on race held by administrators at Stanley Middle School, both the principal and an outside consultant talk about their desire to make white students racially conscious at 7:45 and 19:57 respectively.
