Irvington Schools hire diversity consultants who say “all white children are born racist”

On July 14, 2020 the Irvington Union Free School districted hosted a Zoom meeting with invitees from the NYU Metropolitan Center on Equity and the Transformation of Schools. During the event it was stated that “all white children are born racist” and that we all “have to undo our whiteness.” The district subsequently entered into a 3-year contract with NYU Metropolitan Center on Equity and Transformation of Schools. (PDE has submitted a FOIA request to the district in order to obtain a copy of this contract and a video of the July event.)

The Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) created a Committee on Diversity and Inclusion and according to parents and staff in the district, have used their mailing list to advertise political events calling to “defund the police.”

On the school’s website is a list of resources for “white people and parents to deepen our antiracism work.”

Update: Through a FOIA request with the district, Parents Defending Education was able to obtain a copy of the contract with NYU Metropolitan Center on Equity and the Transformation of Schools. The entire contract can be downloaded above but below are the budget and signatures.
