Gotham Tech High School teacher changes Facebook cover photo to Hamas terrorist paragliding into Israel; posted on social media that supporting Israel is to “support white supremacist terror”

On October 14, 2023, Justin Spiro posted on X of a teacher at Gotham Tech High School of New York City Public Schools changing his Facebook cover photo to a Hamas terrorist paragliding into Israel. He then shared an image of this teacher’s Facebook post showing the new cover photo.

This teacher then replied on X and appeared to confirm that he did, in fact, change his Facebook cover photo to this image. In a response to Justin Spiro, this teacher said that Israel was a “settler colony” that commits “genocide.” He then added that supporting Israel is to “support white supremacist terror”:

Look at this clown and the others in his replies. So-called “Israel” is a settler colony that was invented and only continues to exist through terrorism, dispossession, ethnic cleansing, and ongoing incremental genocide. To support “Israel” is to support white supremacist terror.

The teacher responded by attacking Israel even further.

In response to the attack on Israel, New York City Department of Education’s chancellor, David Banks, sent an email to district staff stating: “I unequivocally condemn these horrific acts of violence, and I want to offer my deepest condolences and steadfast support to those in our New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) community impacted by the killings and kidnappings.” This teacher responded again on X by calling the chancellor a “white supremacist, imperialist, scumbag.”

The teacher’s X profile biography has “#freePalestine” and shows support for the Black Lives Matter movement and for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement to boycott Israel.

Jason Bedrick of the Heritage Foundation posted an image of the teacher’s LinkedIn account on X. The teacher’s LinkedIn account showed that he works as a teacher at Gotham Tech High School in New York City. Parents Defending Education found the teacher’s LinkedIn account and confirmed his employer history.
