Total paid to consultants for race-based programming: $605,000

Total federal funds used: $70,000 (currently unknown how much funding was supplied by AmeriCorps)

Stockton Unified School District appears to be currently running race and sex-based programming focusing on “young men of color.” AmeriCorps grants covered expenses on behalf of the district from 2020 to 2025 while the district paid over $605,000 to the organization for programming in 2019 and 2025.

On March 25 and April 22, 2025, the district signed Memorandum of Understandings with Improve Your Tomorrow, Inc. to operate programming in Adams Elementary, El Dorado Elementary School, Kennedy Elementary School, Victory Elementary School, Wilson Elementary School, and Marshall Elementary School for a total of $535,000 for one year.

In 2020, the district signed an agreement with Improve Your Tomorrow, Inc. which includes the use of “AmeriCorps Service Members” and leverages grant funding from California Volunteers, part of the Office of the Governor.

A 2019 job announcement for “academic mentor” shows the involvement of AmeriCorps in the program.
